I just walked by my tank and both my btas have completely closed up. One of them hasn't been doing been doing great in general but the other one was thriving and looked great 2 hours ago and now it looks like it's barely even there. Is there some sudden change in parameters that would cause this? My LPS and softies are doing perfectly fine.

The one that hasn't been doing great was mostly closed this morning but here are some pics

I've added new sand and taken out a decent bit of live rock because some changes but since around last December. pH 8.2 salanity 1.025 temp stable around 78 and I'll do Hannah checks for the rest. I have likely overfed the past few days trying to get my lionfish off live and my algae reactor needs a serious clean out which I had planned for today. Lighting schedule recently changed but seemed like everything was fine with it.

These are pretty old I'll swap them in and run carbon in case of foreign chemicals

Nah man. No need to change rocks! Changing them will just further shake up the maturing process. Let them find their own place that they like. I’ve had multiple look great, then look deflated and hiding for a few days.
Adding the new sand, taking out rocks, and changing light schedule is a lot for something that depends on stability to adjust to.

It was done progressively before I added them, and it seems they're back to normal today. I know some and enemies eat which can involve them closing it's just that the change unusually rapid to me. I was considering it might be an oxygen and perfusion thing as I've been running my algae reactor a lot more than I should have to keep pH stable while not doing much to add more dissolved oxygen. I turn the light off my algae reactor and started running a small protein skimmer to hopefully add more O2.
