Brittle Sea Star Inflating and Deflating???

Hey guys
I was watching my sea star and noticed something very odd. Not only is the disk of my brittle inflating and deflating dramatically, it has very pale and thin white patch’s on the top of the disk. And the bottom of the disk? A gaping hole you can pretty much see through.

The inflating and deflating looks as if it’s gasping for breath or something. The sea star is still stiff and moving around pretty quickly like everything is normal. Anyone have a freaking clue as to what happened?? I’ve never seen a star with a disk like this before. Photos are listed below.

A couple of reasons they will do this is when they feel threatened or have just eaten
