I purchased a bottle of Brightwell Aquatic's Chaetogro supplement to encourge growth of such macro algae - just got me thinking now, if I use this product, would it actually promote as well any 'bad' algae in the tank?

I had similar thoughts. But then I realized that the goal of the macro algae in the sump is to out compete the bad stuff in the display. I've found that having a semi decent refugium light makes a ton of difference in macro algae growth compared to a full spectrum/grow light bulb and reflector.
