Brett’s Reef Tank 40g breeder build thread

Hi guys. My name is Brett and I’m almost 14 years old. My parents got me an early bday gift and it was a 40b and 20l sump. We will be buying the rest of the equipment as we move this tank build forward. This is my second tank. My first tank was a 10g tank that has been thriving for 4 months now. I currently have an ai prime hd which will go on the 40b along with another ai prime hd. Follow along for the build progression and thanks to my parents for allowing me to upgrade and for supporting me in this hobby.

Yeah custom made by the one and only me. It will have wood supports and most likely a hard counter top for the tank to rest on

I am currently looking at an sca 302 or 301 skimmer. Will the 301 be enough for a heavily stocked tank. I will have filter socks and a small refugium as the other filtration.

Today I might be getting the wood for the stand and maybe build the stand. The tank will be run in peninsula style with a bean animal drain. I will be picking up a radion xr30 g3 pro for $300 next week when I get home. More updates to come.

Thanks man. It only took me 7 years to get my first reeftank. My dad said he will pay for just the filtration. The rest is mine. I found a super cheap radion xr30 g3 pro so I said why not so I sold my ai prime hd and I’m using part of that money for the new light. Oh and my parents have been showing off my tank to whoever comes to our house lol. They love how cool it is

Haha. i have 2 tanks sitting on my floor I’m 3 hours away from my house till Sunday. I won’t have it setup for a while
