Hi guys. Got my first bounce mushroom from a friend. At first it was one whole piece and round. Today I see it looks like it’s kind of splitting into 3 pieces. Is that a sign of stress? I figured since the bubbles are still puffy that it’s ok but I just wanted to make sure. Maybe the acclimation process was stressful for it? The first picture is how it looked when I brought it home the day after and the second picture you can kind of see how both left and right sides are kind of separating

Corals and anemones split to occupy available space in the environment, and to make copies of themselves to increase their chances of survival in the environment. This means that you now own a coral that you can trade with other reefers and the LFS to keep the shroom available in the hobby.

This is a huge responsibility, don’t let it slide away.

I won’t let you down! So one part of it actually just completely split from the main piece. It’s currently on the sand. Will it be fine or should I have it on rock?

Let it be. They know what to do.
