Hello,

I just noticed that my hippo tang currently has cloudy eyes it seems to have changed over night. Any thoughts on what disease they fish has? I currently do Ich management…

Thanks so much!

I can see something, but not clearly. Can you get photos that are closer up, and under white light? I'm trying to see if the skin is also cloudy, or if it is just the eyes.

In the larger picture, the fish has lots of smudges on its body, but those are not seen in the other two photos, so I'm guessing they are just reflections or something....

So - with slightly cloudy eyes that are not bulging, the most common issue is flukes. You could try dosing the tank with Prazipro 2x, 8 days apart with good aeration. It is safe for corals, and if it is flukes, it will help with the eye issue.

So - those spots seem too diffuse to be ich, the reason they only seem to be on the black area is due to contrast, they are also on the blue areas of the fish as well.

At this point, I'd say the fish has flukes. Do you see it flash or scratch at all?

You should try the prazipro I memtioned.

Will do! What aeration would you suggest?

I prefer an air pump and an air stone. If you have a good protein skimmer on the tank, that will also work. Just relying on circulating pumps, even if they break the surface tension a bit, may not be enough.
