I have had good luck training them to eat goldfish (before I understood that they need silversides) or other marine fishes to provide proper nutrition.

I would thread a goldfish onto a stick with fishing line and stick them into the fishes mouth. Once they got used to eating them they would hunt them down in the aquarium without a stick.

Prawns and silversides could work but live food is fun. Damsels and shrimp might also work but they need to be encouraged in the aquarium, from my experience.

This is what also worked for me in the past but I used silversides from the get go. Once they figure it out they tend to be lower maintenance in the meal department.

I have seen success with people just throwing in live ghost shrimp and or live mollies in the tank with them and in about 2 or 3 days they all disappear

As for weaning them into frozen food I've seen people take as much as 2 or 3 weeks or more as there's a lot of patience needed with this fish

If you're gonna try live food i suggest using mollies since they also survive in saltwater it can definitely meet their nutritional needs but if the appropriate size isn't available, guppies are alright too
