Birds Nest - lower extents losing tissue due to lack of light

So my birds nest is doing fine up top, lots of growth, nice color. No issues.

The stem has started to lose tissue though, I suspect because it’s not getting any light.

Do I need to drag, prune or leave be?

Do you still see polyps?
Up to you if you want to trim it.
I personally don't.

I frag mine about every 8-10 months to free up real estate, only so much space in a 32g. The lower interior branches look like that.

I believe it’s actually more related to lower flow in those areas as opposed to light.
