I got this piece back in February and it has definitely grown really fast. I’m aware that it’s known to be a fast grower, but is this typical? While it has encrusted a good bit, the tips are continuing to get longer and longer without any new branches forming from the base. Second pic shows the frag when I acquired it.

Nice! Gotta ask. I'm curious about your parameters that would aid in such growth. If ya don't mind, what do you keep your Ca, Mg, pH and ALK at, generally.

Thanks!
8 dkh
420 Ca
1400 Mg
pH is 8.3 during the day and drops to 8.0 at night.
10ppm NO3
0.1ppm PO4.
I dose All For Reef to maintain the big 3 and traces but also manually dose potassium when needed to keep it between 400-420ppm (testing for it if course)….as All For Reef doesn’t provide potassium.

So much for “you need high Alk for fast SPS growth”!

Awesome! Even more awesome that my parameters other than Alk are nearly identical :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:

Seems normal to me. Mine has tripled in size in around 3 months easily the fastest growing coral in my tank

Seems right to me. Sometimes they branch right away and sometime they puddle (encrust) first.

That's really great growtthey the way! Great job!

Should have kept my mouth shut…. Woke up a rockslide and my bill murrey ended up on top of my lobo and killed the whole colony

Oh no! Had that happen a couple months ago. Snail knocked over a rock that has a colony of bubble gum digi and it landed on my TNT Anacro colony. Luckily the only only damage was a few small branches breaking off of each. My local buddie’s were happy though as they got some frags

Mine took forever to kick off but once it started it grew so fast it became an issue of making sure I had enough room for it.

Gotta love sps, we want them to grow so badly but once they start to take off you have a whole new set of issues. :)

This is one of my favorite acros in my tank but different growth pattern on mine. It spread out more wide and now has multiple branches going vertical.

Definitely one of my favorites as well…the colors are just mmmmm. I honestly don’t mind this growth pattern but I’m just wondering how it’s going to table out if it ever does….looking like it might be using the original growth as it’s base and start fanning out from the top.

That’s a good problem to have. I have bone cutters on hand and a few local reefers anxiously waiting

This is why, as part of my “reset”, I decided to go with corals that are in high demand so that someone will want frags. Nothing like throwing out large chunks of coral cuz nobody wants them…
