I could use a quick refresher on what you can do to help a fish keep a strong immune system and beat ick without quarantine!

We recently had to pull out a large setosa. Our blue hippo had been living/sleeping underneath it, so of course we super stressed him out by totally disrupting his peaceful place. And now, like clockwork, he has ick.

He’s still energetic and eating well. Giving mysis with metroplex/focus and plenty of nori. He eats it all. We don’t have a quarantine tank, so we are hoping to help him recover in our display first before we go get one set up. We have a UV sterilizer running in the display.

What else can we do in order to help him stay strong, de-stress, and hopefully fend off the ick? Aside from plenty of healthy foods and metro/focus, should we be doing things like turning down the lights or turning them off earlier at night? Dosing any particular nutrients, etc? Turning up the skimmer or giving any foods we might not normally?

Sounds like your on right track. Keep feeding multiple times a day and dont do anything to stress fish out. I dont even scrape glass for a week. Hands off and try not to go up to the tank more than u need to. Fact its eating good is great sign. Uv will def help too.
