I have an older 14 gallon CoraLife BioCube that I started back up about a year and a half ago. Tank is going good with a bunch of softies and a pair of clowns. I bought a 165GPH replacement pump when I started it up. In the mean time I have added a 500GPH circulation pump. I still get the occasional Cyano in the spots that visually gets less flow. I treat that with Chemi-Clean and cleans it up real nice. I know that 665GPH is well over the 20x-40x turn over rate and I would like to get this under control before I add some new LPS(Torch & Candy Cane) in my tank next week. My goal is to have about 300 GPH turnover(assuming I have 10 gallons of water x30(LPS)). My question to the community, is 300 GPH a good target goal? If not, what do you think is? If yes, do you suggest a ~300 GPH return pump with no circulation pump? Any thoughts, suggestions and/or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated.
