Hello,

I’m waiting for my new mesh lid and I bought a new light to go with that. This will cause a lot of evaporation compared to having the original plastic lid.

What’s a good ATO ? Not too expensive (everything costs more in Canada), reliable and easy to use and set up ? My cabinet is small and I don’t have a lot of room near it as it sits between a sofa and a doorway.

Thanks !

For my IM 10g nano, I use the IceCap ATO with a OXO 4.5 quart container as the water reservoir. I like the fact that the ATO has two sensors (over filled and under filled).

I use the auto aqua samrt ato lite on my fluval 13.5, great for the money I set it in the return side in such a position that the weir is in its lowest position and allows for a slight drop to pull more with the water viscosity. Works great watch a couple videos to set up. Mine is in such a position it could fail and dump all the ato reserve in my tank and it won't over run. Can get it on Amazon.

This all sounds very complicated to me. Would you have a picture of your setup by any chance ?

The intake is called a weir should be on the grates of bay#1 Bay 2 is the sponge bay 3 is the filter out. The automatic top off has a sensor eye that detects low water lvl, that starts the fill, a lvl off position and over fill shutoff position, also this particular model times the first set up and stops any fill that goes over a specific time limit triggered by the first fill. This lvl can be adjusted by unplugging the ato and letting it sit for a few seconds without power then once it's on again it resets the "overfill" condition. If the sensor finds that it has hit that over fill condition it will then blink red and not fill again until it is power cycled to reset. Kind of like a hay look at me hard stop.
I keep my water lvl low as a precaution just move the sensor while off then plug it in it will then maintain level pluss or minus about an 1/8th of an inch.
It sounds complicated but so is making a peanut butter jelly sandwich if you think about it with all the steps involved, but its really easy. Setup takes about a minute, play with it for a week to adjust to your liking and it's good to go.
#1The green eye is the sensor, the clear tube is the top off water.

#2 the water lvl is about the middle of the sensor.

3-4 views of the weir in the first section and water lvl.
