I’ve been looking into Benereef as an LPS food as I’m tired of dealing with PO4 spikes from Reef Chili and Reef Roids. I have read that due to the probiotic composition, it can actually drive nutrients down. Has anyone had issues with it bringing nutrients down too low? I’m planning on feeding it once a week or so.

The only product I've found to not swing my nutrients one way or the other is pohls coral vitalizer from kz. I dose it once a week and can see results almost immediately in both the LPS and sps.

Thanks for the info, I’ll for sure check it out.

Benereef will not increase nutrients when dosed correctly, po4 reduction is gradual and depends of frequency of use. Just moniter weekly to see what it does for you. I wouldnt expect it to drop more than .02 per feed . Hope that helps!

I have been using benereef for 2 years and I have not noticed it bringing nutrients down, but it also does not increase them.

I have heard the claims that they reduce nutrients and there have been threads on it where the company chimed in, and IIRC they said it may help reduce them but not in all systems.

While I do think reef roids is an excellent food, I didn’t like the phosphate it was adding to my system, and I switched to benereef.

Just recently started using benereef and impressed with the results. Can't speak to PO4 reduction but the feeding response for all my Euphyllia and other stuff like gonis, and blastos is pretty impressive. Really boosted a bunch of hammers and torches I recently got including some today that look like they have been in my tank for weeks. Granted I have not used it by itself yet except one broadcast feed. I spot feed a mix of it, paracoccus powder, and aminos. I was adding a bit of reefroids but pretty much done with it. I actually got the idea of benereef from reading something where topshelf says they feed Euphyllia a mix of it and reefroids. I suspect they have much lower nutrient tanks than I run and can get away with the reefrods.

Right on! Even just a small amount of Reef Chili spikes my PO4 something awful so I’ve ordered some Benereef to see how that goes. Thanks for weighing in!
