I am currently rescaping left half of my 120G, where I want to use the shown pillars, which are sitting on two base rocks (footprint approx. 20x40cm & 20x20cm). Should I put the base rocks directly on the glass, or out something in between?
Also, if you see some obvious flaws in the aquascape, I am happy for feedback.

Thanks!

I don't think there's anything wrong with putting the base rock directly on the glass. I remember watching a video recently from SaltwaterAquarium that mentioned this and he said it really doesn't matter that much.

If you place on top of the sand, just fill the sand in around the rock so that there's no gaps for detritus to build up under the structure that you can't get to

I placed my base rock direct under the glass. I hear people mentioning burrowing critters/fish may be able to burrow under and cause the rock to topple over

Directly on the glass is ideal - and even placing it on a piece of 1/4" acrylic or PVC to prevent any pressure points is good practice as well. Even the foundation rock is not perfectly flat on the bottom.
