Hi
I had 1 bangaii in my tank and went to buy another 3 as I was told you can keep them together….. I now know this is only correct as juveniles…..
1 of them I found dead and the first bigger bangaii is constantly at the other 2 ……
Asked for 2 females and a male which again they said would be fine but after further inspection I’ve sexed then all as males…..
I’ve removed the bully fish but wanting to know if there’s any chance that the 2 males will get on or will they defiantly fight when adult …
Cheers

Depends on the tank size, but they will probably fight until one or none are left.

Both the same fish, can’t tell if it’s 2 nibs or 1 with something else in front….. On the other bangaii you can’t clearly see 2 nibs…. Would you class this as a male….. thanks

Only 250 litre
I’m betting in the long-run two adult males won’t tolerate each other.

From my understanding juvie bangaii are stupid hard to sex (adults for that matter to) so I’m not sure.

Honestly I think your initial plan of adding juvies until you had a pair was the right plan, you just didn’t pull the weakest male before he died.

Interesting. I've had a pair of Banggai Cardinals for years. They had produced eggs and everything (never hatched as far as I could tell). In any event, last week I noticed the tail fins of one of the Cardinals had been completely bitten off, she was still swimming OK, but clearly this is not an ideal situation. I'm guessing the male was the culprit for whatever reason. I can't find the injured fish anymore, I'm guessing my cleaning crew (bristle worms and such) dragged her somewhere I can't find her.

Currently I have a pair of snowflake clowns that rarely hang out with each other, a yellow watchman goby that's paired with my pistol shrimp (coolest symbiotic relationship, ever), a mandarin, and the (now) single Banggai Cardinal...in my 100 gallon with 40-50 gallon sump. I'd like to get more fish, I'm guessing another Banggai Cardinal is probably out of the question?

Two males will create a hostile environment resulting in death
