Can I keep baby brine shrimp in my refrigerator and if so for how long? I don't want to put the whole batch in my tank.

Thanks

David

Typically you want closer to 1.018-1.021 but you could use and I have used 1.026 in the past. I would not use water from your tank, you dont want to introduce bacteria or pods or algaes or whatever else is floating around in the tank water. Use fresh mixed water if you keep water on hand for water changes add a little rodi to bring down the sg a little. My best hatch rates were in the 1.018-1.021 range. At higher salt levels you will still get a good hatch rate close to what the package the eggs come in says if a quality product it may take a little longer to get that hatch rate. There is a rabbit hole of learning here many things associated with hatch rate, temp, sg and so on. its way less complicated than it is made out to be.

Cold water will absolutely kill them IME. There is a video, well actually quite a few videos from aquarium coop he actually had a population in a big tote outside that sprang to life every spring with a little ice still on the surface. I dont think where they are gets much below 30f in the winter so it never froze solid. It was one of those big like icb containers and salt water so... Not sure why refrigeration kills them though.
