Are these fleece roller filters as good as filter socks that are cleaned regularly (every 3+ days)...?

In terms of filtration, I think essentially the same.

In terms of convenience, especially if you travel for weeks at a time, they can't be beaten.

Of course, if you enjoy cleaning filter socks ....

I switched to a roller mat over a year ago (Red Sea). I love it. I used to have some algae issues which have gone away. Friends also noticed the clarity of the water. My skimmer also needs to be emptied a lot less. Personally I think this tool is the most important tool in keeping an aquarium clear. Given that it removes waste in real time, I don't believe socks can keep up.

The benefits of a fleece roller.....are amazing and you can't even compared them to socks or fleece.

But how often, truthfully, where you cleaning/changing out your filter socks before...?

You should really be cleaning or changing your filter sock out to a new one every day. So I would say Filter Rollers are absolutely the future of automated daily filtration.

If you follow BRS - they did an Investigates on the optimal time to change out your filter socks - and it came out to be every 3 days.

Yep, keeps nutrient level at a minimum by removing waste. out of the water column
