Aqua one g220 skimmer maintenance

Hey everyone,

I need to clean the skimmer cup on my aquaone g220 skimmer, according to the instructions it pops off but everytime i try to take it of it feels like im going to break it and i really cant afford another skimmer right now.

Any help is greatly appreciated
