What is that intake guard?

Yes it’s 1 1/2 intake with union, I put a cover over it off a jebco pump I had laying around, as far as I know apex didn’t have anything for this yet! It’s 1 1/4 out comes with union and also 1” out union, I have all fittings and o rings
