Finally found this fish at a LFS today! Only 40 bucks too! Had taken this fish off my stocking list since I couldnt find one. But I saw him and couldnt believe it! He is about half an inch maybe a little bigger right now. Eats REALLY well! I put him in my 32 gallon biocube for now because my eels would 100% eat him in my 300 gallon. Just wondering if anyone out there knows if they grow fast or not?? Would love to get him into the 300 but I have to wait so he wont be eel chow!

Considering how many fish you already have, I would recommend against adding this fish. As your large tank is already a well stocked predator tank, I assume you feed well; these guys can get up to 2 feet long.
Also, their streamers can be very enticing to other fish to chomp on.

Hum I can always take him back to the LFS or rehome when he is bigger I typically dont like to do that but i wont keep him when he is too big. I would rehome to my local aquarium to ensure he gets the biggest home possible! Either way I wont keep him when he outgrows the tank, thats just not fair to him. Thank you, everything I saw minimum tank size was a 200 gallon tank! I appreciate the advice :) only other predators in there are my eels right now and 7 fish total!

I’ve been looking for a good size specimen for a while and for sure will keep it when I find it. It’s an amazing fish when it gets to full grown. The larger ones used to be a lot more available about 10 years ago but there was just very little demand for them so LFS stop getting them.

Yeah Ive been looking for one for a while too! I really really like them, just now unsure ifI should keep him, dont want him to be uncomfortable and too big in my tank. The little guy is so small! What size tank would you keep one in?
