Hello all:

I purchased the small BRS carbon reactor. It works great for a couple days but then the water flow seems to reduce pretty dramatically. I need to rinse the BRS Rox 0.8 carbon to get the flow back. I was hoping this would run for 3-4 weeks between refreshing the carbon.

Questions:

1. Are there any tips for keeping detritus out of the reactor? Should I wrap the pump in some type of filter?
2. Is there another carbon that is a bigger size that is less prone to clogging up?
3. Any other advice. I like the clarity and anti-yellowing properties that it brings to my water but I would like this to require less maintenance.

Thanks so much!

Cheers, Steve.

Are you coming straight out of the tank? Or pulling past your mechanical filtration. I used brs' carbon reactor and gfo reactor kit, and never had detritus issues, but then again it was past the fuge and filter socks area. Same chamber as my skimmer.

So yeah don't pull straight from tank, and make sure the clean side goes directly return pump. Otherwise put a sock over it or filter and clean that, prolly very frequently...
