Any tips on my aquascape

Hey guys I'm new in the hobby and I've just finally finished this aquascape the I like I haven't glued it down yet since I wanted some opinions on it. How does it look? Will it get good flow thru the rocks? Is it too high ? Ill post some pics and well as a video. This aquascape is going into a jbj 45 gallon for reference. Any tips or recommendations would be appreciated thank you !

That rock is just covered with coralline. Was it live? Scape looks good. Might want to have manageable portions to make it easy to handle.

I would recommend leaving a good 2-3” between the aquascape and your glass so you can scrape and also prevent detritus from building up there. So if the tape line is the glass maybe adjust. If it represents the 2-3” border then you’re good. Be sure to leave 30% of the water depth open at the top

^This ^ being close to the edge was the first thing I noticed. Glueing isn't necessary if the rocks are stable. Sometimes I glue and sometimes I don't. For a scape like yours I probably wouldn't glue but if I did I would glue it in sections so parts can be removed if needed.

Seems like a lot of rock. Build to provide a lot of holes, caves and tunnels

Looks great! I would recommend both glue and mortar (or epoxy but I can’t stand the epoxy personally) for a couple of reasons. For one, you just don’t want those rocks toppling over and without flat foundation pieces they definitely could shift and/or fall.

Also, if you one day have to dismantle the tank or get the rocks out but like your placement/corals the way they are having them all stabilized to come out in a couple of pieces is very helpful. Like - what if you have to catch a fish? Taking out 3 pieces vs all of them wayyyyyyy easier.

Also - I know myself, and I’m a meddler. If everything isn’t cemented in place I would want to be rearranging constantly. Mortar has forced me to stop doing that lol.

There are a couple other posts mentioning the space between the rock and back of the tank. As long as you can get a small gravel vac inbetween any glass and rock you should be good to go

Looks mostly good, but one side looks way too close to the glass. I would move that in about 2". Also, if you put the rockwork in first, right on the glass, then add whatever substrate you will be using, you will find that much more stable that placing the rock on top of the substrate.
