Hey folks,

Looking for some info on this one..

I got a 200 gallon with a few tangs, cardinals and clowns..

No recent additions to the tang besides some torch corals.. And some nudibranch in the sump..

Noticed today my foxface of 2 years is looking like this.. Any thoughts?

There has been no recent deaths and wondered what your thoughts are..

Ps: the other foxface is fine and so are the tangs.. Even though my 2 yellow tangs have black lips?? Pic attached..

Thanks!

Its pectoral fin has some serious damage to it. Any idea as to the culprit?

The spots could be missing scales from tankmate aggression, but could also be a parasite, the pic is too dark to really see.

Can you go brighter in white intensity. Jay mentioned aggression and can be bite marks, disease or injury and even tail strike damage from tangs

Yes - tail is split and what looks like both bite marks and mucus cones. I assume fish is breathing labor heavy?
If you dont see any tankmates bothering it, one thing you can do is set your cell phone on video mode for about 30 mins and drop a little food and walk away - YOU MUST walk away as they know youre there. Often the aggressor is a bully at feeding time. Review the video and see who it may be

Go-tcha! I have a spare phone.. Atm he's heavy breathing and standing still... Seems random to start now as there has never been any aggression before.. Most fish were added at same time to prevent it..

I tried feeding mysis and nori but didn't touch it.. I'll see what happens.. Stay tuned..

Also any idea about the black mouth on the yellow tang?

On tang, black mouth appears to be from injury or fighting and it appears there's some squabbling possibly going on as fish in your presence are on their best behavior most of the time. The rabbit sitting still may be from intimidation by a potential bully

I'll keep an eye and see what happens. Appreciate the input * dreaded having to go fish less and quarantine all fish again *...

That foxface sure looks like another fish put it through the ringer. In some cases though, fluke infections can make a fish look tattered and beat up, and then, it is also common to have both issues happen at the same time.

So bit of an update - he wasn't doing great, checked the camera in 45 minutes he never moved or got bothered.. Half way through the night I noticed snails on top of him whilst he was breathing so moved him to a QT and he passed away this morning...
Water parameters are good, nitrates and phosphate ok, no amonia.. alk mag and calcium still within range..

Here's hoping this was a one off..
