Thanks for your time.

I want to add some anthias Ignitus to a 90 gallon tank. Existing tank mates: breeding pair of clown fish and a Melanurus Wrasse.

How many can I add at once?
Recommendation on genders - mix? All one kind?

Thanks!
Brian

In my experience, you're more likely to have success with Anthias long term if you do two things;

1. Use an auto feeder to feed them small meals at least 2-3 time a day
2. Get enough to spread out the aggression

In the wild, it's around 1:30-50 males to females. They suppress the females turning male by harassing them throughout the day. (Charging and flashing fins, but not biting or intent to harm). If you don't have enough females to spread this aggression out, it's possible for individuals to be stressed to death.

I currently have 1 male and 8 females in my tank, no losses in 18 months, and I'm thinking about adding a few more females to make it 1:10-12.
