Hello,

I got this bubble tip yesterday, it was doing good (opened up and moving around) and when I woke up I found it like this. Does anyone know what is going on with it?

Thanks

Welcome to R2R. Sorry it's a scary issue that got you here.

You have an anemone. They do some strange behaviors. You need to be slow to react. They occasionally will push their gut out through their oral disk (mouth) as a way to get something out of it or just to let it rinse out. I think (not 100% sure) that this is what yours id doing. In a day or two it will draw it back in and go back to looking normal.

I had a similar issue with my new nem. Turns out I had too much light on it. I turned my lights down and the nem stopped expelling that stuff and is in much better condition.

here’s a link to my thread in case it helps

They have to poop and occasionally expel zooanthele and waste. Very normal as Ron indicated

Thanks, I will keep an eye on it and see how it performs. This picture show its latest update, it retracted the white thing coming out of it and closed a bit more.

The lights will decrease and turn-off in the next couple of hours, i'll report what happens then.

Update: I have been keeping on eye on the BTA for almost a week now. It was doing ok, attached and open. It used to close from time to time. Now, however, it still opens and closes, but it is detached from the rocks. Do you know what that means? Should I try placing it on a rock and turn off the pump and filter?

Did you just introduce the anemone within this month? If no, I would leave it alone as it is either expelling something if this just happened overnight. Don't do anything to lighting period.
I have had this anemone for almost a week now.

it dettached and is now just free floating around the tank? If so, make sure all your over-flows, power heads, etc... are covered and hes protected from getting chopped up.

If he dettached, he must have not been happy in that spot. He certainly didn't look happy to me, being on the sand like that.

That looks like a sick Nem laying on the sand like that. My nem prefers a higher spot, raching up towards the light.

That is not normal, you can see it Mesenterial filaments ..

Pooping is one thing and it is not doing that.

It is stressed because of something and not happy.

It also looks to be a little bleached.
