There are a lot of negative reviews about the AI Prime flex arm breaking and causing the light to fall into the tank. I was wondering if anyone has found an alternative arm that is compatible with the AI Prime 16HD thread, or any alternative ways to set it up.

AI makes a ridged arm that is what I use as I didn’t trust the flex arm either.

Exactly the one posted above - so I agree with you! :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:

This one is great, and can easily be modified with a metal saw if you're tight for space

if you're crafty and don't like any of the retail options out there here is what I did. Just skip to page three and look at posts #47 and #48.

This looks great! Can you share your process of making the mount?

I bought a 3-light track light, gutted it and installed the primes using their own stock metal brackets. After that I bought the floating shelf that it's mounted to. There is a coat closet on the other side of the wall. I drilled a small hole through to the closet side and ran the wires through, so all the power supplies are in the closet.

I never had a problem with the bendable arms. I ran 7 with no issues on several tanks for a couple years..
I hated the metal one. If you looked at them they would move, lol.
Metal vs bendable.
