So I’m confused and need some help I have a mixed reef tank softies/lps and I have been testing my alkalinity each day for 7 days to try and figure out how much to dose each day, I am using the Hanna alkalinity checker so it’s pretty accurate, my problem is it’s staying the same I have no drop in alkalinity from day to day and it doesn’t make sense, every time I test it it reads 162 or 162 ppm, I have plenty of lps in my tank so it doesn’t make sense can anyone tell me what’s going on?

How bigs your tank? Got a fts? How much lps or purple coralline? Might be normal yes. Watch calcium too. The two are tied together. Ur mag will be the last to drop. Keep watchin.

It’s a 90 gallon tank with a 20 gallon sump 60 pounds of rocks, not coralline, my calcium is at 420 according to api and 495 according to salifert test kit, I am waiting for a different test kit on the mail for calcium, my magnesium is 1310.

As pointed out check the Big 3 to ensure you're balanced enough for consumption to be trackable
LPS in my experience use far less Alk than SPS
It’s just weird because I was having to add in 15ml of alkalinity a day then I added some corals lps and softies now it’s not dropping at all, I have been testing everything every day because it’s worrying me but I don’t want to keep testing so much

Judging by your picture you have virtually nothing coral-wise to consume much Alk.
Your previous dosing need was most likely bacteria consuming it. Now that your tank is settling in your seeing the true use by your corals.
I never thought about it like that but that makes sense, thank you.
