Had a few tuffs of this stuff pop up in my tank, anybody able to give me an idea of what it is? Originally seen it in my sump afew weeks ago, put a couple Trochus snails in there and it was gone within a week, they don’t seem interested in the stuff in my display. Current CUC includes:
- Trochus snails
- Cerith snails
- Nass snails
- Bumblebee snails
- Misc dwarf hermit crabs
- Halloween crabs

They look like thick/rigid strands of grass, not noticed any “fern” features to them. I do have some GHA in the system which i am slowly getting the better off. Tank is just over a year old and parameters typically stay around:
pH - 8.2/8.3
kH - 8
Ca - 430
Mg - 1400
No3 - 5-10
Po4 - 0.02-0.08

Much appreciated

I’d say it’s nothing to be too concerned about. It’s another form of filamentous hair algae. I dipped a rock that had typical GHA in hydrogen peroxide and it killed most of it, except for a couple of those thick strands popped up and it has never spread or has done anything negative
