Looking to ID this algae. It is not in my display, but it is prevalent in my overflow box and sump where light is minimal. Tangs may be keeping it at bay in the display tank. My nitrates and phosphates were really high and the algae appeared after I got both under control. It is whitish and when collected is like a snot.

I am all set, found the cause, corrected it, and its clearing right up. White slime algae is a product of overdosing Carbon or Nopox. My dosing was based on bringing down numbers but I didn't adjust enough to compensate for the drops. Turned off dosing, did a water change to lower Nopox in the water and all of the growth stopped and started to pull back.
