Hi Friends,

I am coming up with my stocking list and am hoping for suggestions for a utilitarian algae eating Fish for my mixed reef tank (soft coral predominant).

I really want a lawnmower blenny but am hoping to only purchase captive bred fish and haven’t found one yet online. Do you have any suggestions?

i cant think

I personally have in my own tank (4’x2’x18”);
Ctenochaetus binotatus
Siganus magnificus
Escenius lineatus
(Recently vanished and likely died of old age).

I also have a similar 75g up and coming my plans for it are a few tangs

my plan is a yellow tang, blue tang, purple tang ( from biota) blue tang and purple will get moved to my 225 in a few years when they get bigger/to big for that tank, I’m also sourcing locally bread tomini tang.

however I lm also creating a large fugue and pod population now too, as to introduce mandarin pair (also from biota) so thell eat supplied food and pods ect…

current inhabitants are a pair of clowns and two cleaner shrimp I too would like to know if there’s any others that would be good in here.

I have a similar sized tank and have a one spot foxface, yellow eyed kole tang and a sailfin. You would be hard pressed to find a single spot of algae in my tank.
Is your aquarium is established though?

From op looks like a new setup and we all know the downfalls from ther

Forget lawnmower blenny. Not only have thin ones been coming in, but they are not true algae eaters. While they require algae in their diet , they are meat eaters and need calcium for survival often gnawing on rocks.
Tail spot blenny is good
Snails such as : astrea-cerith-turbo grazer-trochus and ninja star snails
Pencil or pin-cushion urchin
Kole eye tang

I have a 70 rimless. My current stock is

white tail tang
One spot foxface
Pink streak wrasse
Black ice clown
Black storm clown

i had a lawnmower blenny but he refused to eat anything prepared and my white tail hated him. I think my white tail made him jump and i didnt have a lid on at the time. I did really like having him.

I plan on adding a flame angel and something else small. I have issues with keeping nitrates and phosphates.
