I wanted to upgrade my light. To get right to the point I have 3 options for hanging my AI prime light. (can't hang it from the ceiling in my house)
1. Flex arm 12 inches
2. Flex arm 18 inches
3. Solid metal mount
When I purchased my AI light last night I went with the 18 in flex arm because I wanted it to be raised high above the water for more even distribution. After sleeping on it, I am thinking the light spill over will be annoying because the tank is in my living room. I bet the light being higher will be better for the tank but what about cosmetics. I am open to mounting the light whatever works the best and looks nice. I fear the 18 inch flex arm is going to be too long. Should I change the mount or just go with the 18 inch flex arm. I was hoping others already knew or have this setup and they could shed some light on the topic.
Feel free to send a picture as well. Just wondered what everyone else thought.

I am looking at my evo, still hood and standard light, I looked up the specs of your light and it seems very adjustable in output settings and has a good spread, if I was doing this I would run it about 6 inches above the water but at lower output.

I probably should have got the shorter flexible arm because with the 18 inch is about 12 inches off the water. I could bend the light down but it kinda looks weird doing the arm like that.
mid suggest other buying the shorter flexible arm.

I think you made the right choice. I’ve had 3 AI Primes and have always been tempted by the flex arm, but the reviews are always what holds me back.

same thing held be back, I feel like the solid arm is the best option for it

What settings are y’all running on it?
What’s the max brightness?
People scared me that this light was too powerful for the 13.5 tank, so I’ve been running the saxby profile at 30% max brightness.

Do you use the moonlight channel?
