Hello Everyone!

I have a fluval EVO 13.5 reef tank.
I recently upgraded my wavemaker pump from a normal fluval one to AI Nero 3.

The pump it self is rated up to 2000G per hour and when i was researching about it the site mentioned it goes down to 1% power. But it wasn't until after i placed it in the tank that i found out the 1% is not actually 1% power and it is 600G per hour and thats the min it goes to.

Now i set up the scheduling in a way that when the lights are on there is mostly random motion and 2 times there are pulse motions, i kept my random motion on lower percentages but the pulse when the light is on stronger to actually create some wave motions in the tank. Ive attached pics of my schedule to the thread.

Based on my research i keep lps corals and my turnover rate should be 450 G and hour but im running just shy of 800 G and hour. Is it too much? Will it negatively effect my corals? Any other suggestions? Any help would be appreciated!

Have you already put it in the tank and started it up? Does it look to powerful? It might be depending or your corals and pump placement. If i had to guess i would say its too powerful for a 13.5 gallon

So I've been running it slightly lower than 800 g/ph and its sitting at the top corner of the tanks aimed at the back wall, so far its been more than two week and after some tweaks in the settings I haven't had any problems, all corals open up and dont get whipped around either. I think the thing about the nero pumps in general are they have a very wide angle of throw compared to others that it takes the intensity off and it can be even used in a tank as small as the evo!

oh man...i just purchased one for my kid's BIOCUBE 14G...this got me worried should I just cancel the order?
From what i can see in my tank and ive talked to many specialists at the aquarium centre i go to, the nero 3 is fine even for a small tank like mine or your 14G. As ive mentioned before the flow throw is so much wider than conventional power heads that its not very intense which will damage any corals. In my tank with the schedule i posted there wasn't much movement (the random phases not the pulse phases) so i Actually ramped up all my flow by 5% (mins and maxs) so i can get more movement in the tank. I honestly think you'll be more than happy with the pump!

Hello! I am trying to research more about the Nero 3 and see that some users have been dissatisfied with this product. Have you been happy with the Nero 3 in your tank?
