AEFW?

Hey folks! I got this “little red ferrari” about a week ago, and today i noticed it looks a little lumpy… now im used to the occasional spot that’ll grow into a polyp. But this looks like bubbles?????

It’s under about 300PAR, i know it’s a “deep water” acro but i have another one that seems to be loving the light.

i really hope that it’s not AEFW because i got a fair amount of sps… and they’re encrusted onto rock so dipping is only half the battle

if anyone can weigh in that would be awesome!

I did dip it, all i have is Coral Rx. A few little bugs came off and some kind of flat worm… but it was dark a dark colour and slithered very very very fast

Looks like u didn’t remount the coral on a new
Plug. KCL stuns them and u can blow them off via baster

I never really unmount my acros. I just give them a dip and a solid scrubbing with a toothbrush around the base. It doesn’t really seem like bite marks like no skeleton exposed… so maybe it’s just a weird lumpy crazy polyp growth… or some kinda bubble disease on acro’s I’ve seen

Those are weird growths some acros get under LED’s. Also If you don’t unmount corals, make sure to glue over any fragplug that’s not covered by the coral. This will save you a lot of headache in the long run. When you can, it’s better to cut off the plug though.

Looks like a hyperplasia type of issue. Some get it for no apparent reason, some say carbon sources are to blame (I don’t see this being true) and some say unbalanced calcium and alk dosing contributes to it. Either way some growths will spread so keep an eye on it.
