Abrasion or pest on hippo tang?

Hey, I’m wondering if anyone could help me identify what is on my hippo tang.
I freshwater dipped it for 5 minutes and a lot of flukes jumped off but also created this abrasion I think. It started off white which led me to believe it was a fresh wound but now it has gone dark in colour.
The tang has been in a quarantine tank for the past 4 days it’s eating and is in a much better mood I’m just not sure if I should be dosing something specific or just let it naturally heal/fight off.
Any help is welcome I’m super new to the hobby and it’s my first fish and don’t want to lose it.

That could be skin damage from the flukes or from netting it during capture.

What did the flukes you saw look like?

You’ll need to treat the fish with hypo or prazi since a FW dip won’t actually cure the fish. You’ll also need to treat all fish that were exposed to this one.

In addition to assessment made by Jay, This fish looks awfully thin and if eating, what foods are you offering?

That could be skin damage from the flukes or from netting it during capture.

What did the flukes you saw look like?

You’ll need to treat the fish with hypo or prazi since a FW dip won’t actually cure the fish. You’ll also need to treat all fish that were exposed to this one.

I thought possibly it could be from it rubbing against the sand bed and rocks.
The flukes varied in size, white oval shaped.
I’m not familiar with what they look like so I’m not really sure what to compare them too.
Currently treating it with seachen Paraguard until I figure out what it is.
The mark seems to me getting smaller everyday and the fish is eating well and very active with no signs of visible stress.

Pellets and frozen brine shrimp rotating, feeding twice a day.
The fish is only a juvenile about 5cm in length, should I feed more or even a third time during the day? And should I be feeding it something else? I’m feeding it off what my local fish store recommended.

Those sound like Neobenedenia flukes. They are egglayers and the medications don’t kill the eggs. You need to redose and sort of guess at the timing - you want the eggs to all hatch out, but not get old enough that they can lay new eggs. 8 days is a commonly used interval, but it still can take 3 or more treatments to get rd of them.

Paraguard does NOT treat Neobenedenia though.

When it comes to formula 2 is pellet form good or don’t worry about it if it’s not frozen? I can’t get it frozen where I live

Yes - with prazipro, you need to add aeration to the tank, run any skimmer, but don't collect the skimmate. Some people do a 25% water change before the second and third treatments.
