So my son tries to wake me up this morning telling me I spilled the water on the floor. I told him to go watch tv not thinking about what he said lol. I am on vacation so I decided to sleep in.....big mistake.

I was out of RO/DI water so I set it up in our front hallway run to the hose outside to the nozzle. Well I guess when my son got up this morning he knocked the blue hose out of my brute trash can. So my entire foyer, front closet, front of my kids room, and my laundry room were covered in water. Great start to my day lol. So after the wife went off on me for awhile and used phrases like "those stupid fish", "this is getting ridiculous", "what were you thinking?" "Get a straw" lol.

So moral of the story is, securely fix any line with running water

Omgosh ! Yikes! Hope there wasn't any water damage to the floors :sad: One of my friends in WI had a 125 gal SW setup and one Sat. morning while she slept in her 4yr old put bubble bath in it and told her she cleaned the fishies house.

I hope there isnt any damage. I'm not to worried about the carpet areas. The foyer is laminate wood or floating floors so more worried about that. But if I have to tear it up I have to. The only problem with that is it runs the whole way to underneath the 125 and I am not breaking that down after finally getting it together.

I can say from previous flooding experience get a dehumidifier going 24/7, it will take a couple of days. the carpet should be fine, the floating floor maybe its savable. if you need a dehumidifier, I have one sitting doing nothing.

I agree! I had a couple of RODI water incidents until I purchased my float valve. I had a 15 gallon water spill in my living room a day or two ago from my 90 gallon. Is is amazing how water can travel through carpet. Wet vac and dehumidifier do a great job.

I did the same. I was tempted to drill the brute can, but rigged up a clamp type setup that I can move from one can to the other... and the shop vac...Ridgid has some awesome ones. If I remember right, they have ratings posted telling the amount of suction they have. Mine pulls enough that I accidentally pulled carpet from the tack strips in some areas. It's well worth buying one, because the day you need it, you'll be in a big hurry.

Definitely +1 to this! A shop-vac kinda fits into the same boat as a storm shelter; if you never use it, it was still a great investment!
