So my wife gave me the OK to upgrade from a 60 cube to a 90 gallon for the kitchen. I planned on tearing down the 60 cube and rebuilding the inside anyways but I had the amazing option to trade it for a 90 gallon.

The issue I am currently having with the cube is that all my rock is COVERED in bubble algae. The first go around I had with it I was able to get out of the tank via emerald crabs, they pretty much cleaned the whole tank out and got it looking good again. After that all the emeralds died off because there really wasn't much algae for them to graze upon. About a month later the algae came back with a vengeance and I haven't been able to control it at all. I did buy another round of emerald crabs but they are barely touching it unlike the first batch I got. I know a good portion of it has been my lack of husbandry since I've been traveling a lot with my job lately.

So with this upgrade I was thinking of drying out all the rock and soaking it in some bath or whatever to get rid of the bubble algae so it doesn't come back in my 90 when I get it going. Does anyone have an insight on what else I could do to make sure the rock is "clean" of bubble algae or what bath I should do to kill it off? I know I'll probably have to reseed the rock but I do have more in a bucket curing and cycled.

I had horrible hair algae in my nano. I took the tank down and put the rock in saltwater in a black tub for probably a year. I didn't mean to leave it so long... Anyway, I changed out the water every now and then. I've had the nano back up for a good while now with that rock and have not had a return of the algae. No special bath, just blacked out with no new nutrients for a long time.

I did want to use the rock again. With in a couple months. Just curious on ways to make sure it's not coming back by bath or drying it out

Measure out parts of bleach and soak them for like 2days and then In rodi. daily 100% water changes and soak in rodi with daily 100% water changes until the bleach smell is gone. That's what my lfs recommend
