Hello fellow saltines,

So I just got my first 3D printer. An Ender 3v2 (yeah). I would like to print a nem guard (although for me it's a fish guard) for my sicce voyager nano powerheads. I couldn't find premade ones to buy. Has anyone done these powerheads where they can share the files or can someone provide me instructions on how to measure the powerhead to construct one. Never having held a nem guard I'm trying to figure out how to construct this so it slides over the wider middle circumference but still fits snugly over the narrower part after it gets past this wider part.

Are you just trying to add additional "bars" in between the existing ones on the front of the powerhead? The sides are already pretty small if I remember correctly.

I haven't seen any guards for those pumps though. I could probably fab one up this weekend if I have time and send you the .stl after I run a couple of test prints to ensure fitment (I think I have one of those powerheads at home, I'll have to check after work though).

Thanks for this! I was looking for a complete cover. Some of my gobies are so tiny that they could slip in through the sides as well as the front. For example when I got one of my gobies (he was a baby) he was just a little bigger than my pinky finger nail. Now that he's older he can still fit in through the sides of the powerhead cover. I forgot to mention that I'm currently covering the powerheads with a tight mesh fabric as an interim safety measure. The fabric works great but it gets plugged up quite quickly and it's arduous to clean. I have attached a pic of my pseudo fish guard. I have two powerheads that are covered with this fabric.

Thanks so much! I really appreciate it! I have no clue (yet) on how to use the design and slicing software to make things. LOL I'm so excited to finally have a printer and I'm sitting here looking at it and saying to myself "where do I start?" Doing this guard was going to be one of my first projects but I should probably start off with something like a cube. LOL

I put together a "fitting sample" last night. Looks ok, but needs a little work.

Yeah, 3D printing can be fun..........can also be incredibly infuriating. Haha! It is cool to be able to make things you need when you need it though

It took a little less than 2 hours to print.

I haven't tuned my printer for smaller stuff (I've been printing large items recently), so it's not as clean as it could be, but it worked ok for me to test fit.

Right now it's friction fit, so there's no tabs on it to help old it on. It will be easier for you to print this way as you won't have to deal with supports and stuff, BUT it may loosen up over time. The good thing is you be able to print another one! haha!

Assuming you're ok with the design, I'm going to tweak it a little and wrap it up. I might make a second .stl file with tabs in case you decide you want to try that way.

PM me your email address and I'll send you the .stl files in the next day or two.

How did this end up? I have been looking for an anemone guard for the same pump
I think it turned out pretty good, but I never used it on a "live" tank, just on a test tank for me to make sure it would allow flow and stay on.

Did you get this print down? I need to buy a goby cover for my tiny neon and yashia goby. They like to play too close for comfort to the power head. I will gladly pay for one.

I can make them for the 1000. I don't have a 2000 to test fit it on. Now if they're the same size, then no problem (I just have no idea if they're the same size or not).

They are the same size. The one you made me fit on both the 1000 and 2000. Externally, there are no differences that I can see.
