Can I run 1 wave maker in a 4ft long tank I noticed my clown only comes out when wave makers are off so I wonder if I cut to one finding correct placement that this will bring him out more

The two I have is about 500gph and the other is on the opposite side of tank is 1050gphwithout knowing the flow rate of the wave maker it is difficult to have an informed opinion. Having said that my clowns are in a literal washing machine of turbulence and they are out and about swimming against / with the current ....i think its good exercise for them. try standing at a distance and observe the tank, you may find that up close they retreat to a "safe" zone
Yeah your right ill let it fly and leave it be lol just want that fish swimming moreI only have a 3' tank and i run a Jaboa sp-120 4300gph on setting 2, opposite end 2 mini hygger 1600gph wave makers on full random, random nozzle flow off a mantis tornado 4000....lots of flow and fish seem happy.
I would suggest imo that you should keep the 2 going
