32 Gallon Biocube skimmer question (aquamaxx HOB-1)

Hey guys,

I have a 32 gallon Biocube, I have a Tunze 9001 skimmer in the tank, but I'm honestly not crazy about it. I am looking at purchasing a aquamaxx HOB-1, but was wondering if I can run this in chamber 2 with my InTank Media Basket, or if I can run the protein skimmer in chamber 1. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don’t know about the hob1. But I have the Aquamaxx hob 1.5 and it fits in chamber 1 with a heater with the inTank media. You do have to make some minor modifications by removing the hood loop. But it took like 2 mins with snips and needle nose plyers.

I heard stories of people having issues with micro bubbles. But none so far I had for almost 2 weeks. Have it at the highest setting so a dry a skim and look

So far I love it. It allows me to feed more heavily. Which will grow my corals faster. I was sick of constantly having to adjust the coralife one. Also heard the same thing about the tunze. Adjusting the the skim for a wet or dry skim is easy, you just raise or lower the collection cup. Also the collection cup is huge and holds a lot of liquid. Really my only complaint is the price and the fact you have to clean it but you have to clean any protein skimmer. This is my first real protein skimmer so I have nothing to compare it to others than the coralife v2. With that said I was happy with the coralife until it started malfunctioning 2 months later. So as long as this don’t break any time soon I would highly recommend it!
