Im Jordan, got into reefing kinda by chance when i picked up a 55 gallon tank, stand and hood at a garage sale for 20 bucks and its all been downhill since then! upgraded to a 90 gallon and that lasted the longest but i outgrew that pretty quick as well and moved up to the "big" leagues with a marineland 300 gallon deep dimension. the big one is of course my favorite tank i loved having all of the space but it was only set up for about 8 months until i got out of the air force and moved to TN and now its sitting in my dads basement sad and unused. heres some pics of my old tanks
the 55

the 90

the 300

The little house that im in now though wouldnt fit that tank anyway which brings us to now. The space that i have will fit a 20" cube 35 gallon display quite nicely so thats what im going with. So this my new tank build, it'll be a bit slow so bear with me. The tank is a deep blue brand reef ready cube with a corner overflow. I'll be building the stand and hood as well so that will take some time as well.
Here is the stand. It looks a bit odd so let me explain. The tank is going to sit right next to the arm of my couch and we needed an end table there as well so my options were to build a stand with the same dimensions as the tank which would limit me on room underneath for filtration and such and then put a seperate end table there with it or combine the stand and end table together which would have way more room under it. This is what i ended up doing so the tank will sit on the upper part and the lower will have granite on it to serve as the end table.

here is is in place with all of the door cutouts made.

here is the piece of granite, its very hard to see but with the light from the kessil it has luminescent blue pieces in it, i love it!

I also decided that i didnt like the amount if room the corner overflow took up in such a small tank so i took it out and im gonna replace it with a glassholes overflow

does anyone on here know of anywhere to get a bulkhead with no hole in it to plug the holes from the old overflow? the other option of course would be to silicone a piece of glass over it which is fine and ive done it before but it would be nice to just throw a bulkhead in it without having a big with plug sticking up out of it.

Buy a standard bulkhead and then put a PVC plug in it with the mating thread size. Then if you ever decide to use it just remove the PVC plug. They're about $1 at HD. You don't have to be a member to come to a meeting; just keep an eye on here and we'll announce when the January meeting will be held (often the 3rd Saturday of the month).

Welcome Jordan, you do not have to be a member to attend meetings. I love the end table idea!

Do you still have the 300?
