2 AI Prime 16HDs or single G5 xr15 pro

Hi all,

I just upgraded my tank to a 60.2 (24x19x19) and have two AI Prime 16HDs currently mounted.

someone local is selling an g5 XR15 pro at a pretty good price.

I love the soft light im getting with the two 16’s now but would also love to get just one light above the tank.

it’s also an office tank and the ai prime fans can be noisy when turned up.

anybody have comments on a single G5 Xr15 vs two ai primes?

good upgrade or am I being silly??

For esthetics, I'd go with the single G5. It'll also have better color blending than the Primes. However, I believe there's a BRS video that displays that multiple Primes can provide the same amount of coverage and PAR.

100% agree with aesthetics over the tank, do you think 1 xr15 is comparable to the full like of 2 ai primes spaced apart?

One XR15 can cover a 24x24x24 tank. For higher average PAR, that area shrinks down to 18x18x18. I forget the details of the BRS video, but it does suggest that multiple Primes are a legit alternative that has comparable PAR and coverage.

With your dimension of 24-19-19, how is that a 60.2? I have a 35-20-19 which is a 58.
