Hi everyone! I’m starting a project for my adorable captive bred seahorse herd.
I found an amazing 150 gal 36” cube on offer up for $200! It had a stand but it was way too tall for me (5’1” person here), so I decided to build my own! I made it so the stand had a 1” lip on 3 of the 4 sides. The total height of the stand is 28”, a little lower than I originally planned but my door frame had other plans (had to trim it down by 2” so it could fit).
Found a nice 20 gal tall tank for $20 on offer up which I plan on converting into an ATO reservoir.
Found an awesome deal at a local glass shop for a custom tank for the sump, $350 for it assembled with proper bracing (33”L X 23”W X 18”H). Water volume for the sump would be roughly around 50-60 gallons I think (I’ll have to recheck the dimensions on BRS). I’m going to make my own baffles for it (tips very much appreciated!!!) with most likely a colored acrylic.
I’m not sure what to do for plumbing yet, it does have two drilled holes on the bottom left back corner, I think they’re about 2”.
Right now my herd is at 4 horses (Hippocampus Erectus) I have three females and one male since I got them as juveniles. Just a few days ago, my male was courting my piebald female! I definitely need two more males and I hope Alyssa at Seahorse Savvy updates her wysiwyg soon. I’m looking to add some orange males, and some extreme cirri males.I have more photos of my seahorses on my Instagram:

I hope you enjoy this build as much as I am going to! ;Cat
