I currently have a 105g DSA tank and have tangs and a trigger that are outgrowing it. I purchased a 140g tank that has been floating around a few local members and was never set back up. Tank is 60x30x18 and the fish should like it since I am not packing this tank with rock...I hope.

Anyways, I have been collecting stuff for my dream tank for years and so far this is my dream tank. Till the next one comes along. I’ve already done a lot of work towards setting this tank up. I have has the tank blocking the front door for 6 weeks or so. The wife is being patient but don’t want to press my luck. Guess I’ll post up pics of the progress I’ve made over the next few days if I remember. Until then: here is the tank as it was when I picked it up.

It had surface rust and one hole. Put my best worker on it and he removed the rust. Then I sent it to my buddy at BlackJack Speed shop and he coated it with Line-X. Stand is ready to go...

He runs Elvis Aquatics and takes care of all of my crazy design ideas. Not much else to show with the stand right now. So, I’ve been ordering stuff like crazy from Bulk Reef Supply and Amazon. I need to stop getting new ideas for the tank while laying in bed.

I sold the sump that came with the tank. I designed this sump a while ago knowing I wanted a peninsula style tank. Tuan @ Zen Reef built the sump and made my design become a reality. He did an amazing job on the sump! Could not be happier! 8A484253-1E41-4AF8-AD0A-C49BEE80538B.jpegDFDD6109-B053-408B-996A-2A88C3D1B116.jpegA164E44B-6879-419E-9795-02D6F146FF5A.jpegF2392DDA-6E29-4DE2-86E8-525429AFE1E3.jpegFF147CAC-1557-46A6-8E16-3161FF4C2E7C.jpeg E738170F-AF7D-42B2-81D8-08B3DEEE42DE.jpegC478D651-3F8D-4999-B789-672174C5DDF0.jpeg1C6691E7-6BCA-4B1A-83A4-E3100E91A371.jpeg 0D6988C3-AA9D-4C12-9D8D-2436AA19518C.jpeg 36EA0E47-940D-490A-BFBF-2480BF532F12.jpeg2BA939FD-5FA3-4B52-BA02-092CC5A965A8.jpeg 47B05670-9013-4650-BCBF-6E9174AA5A85.jpeg

The tank already had a ghost overflow on it but it was dated and I wanted to replace it. I had already bought a Synergy Reef overflow a year ago but it would not fit. So I sold that and contacted Modular Marine and they custome made me a new ghost overflow. Have to say their turn around time and customer service was exceptional. I was nervous as hell because he was making it to the measurements I had to make. Presley from Elvis Aquatics came over and double checked before I sent off the final measurements. Thank God it fit perfect! The whole internal weir box is removable for cleaning.

I had some old rock laying around and decided to cure the rock while collect aquarium items needed. Stuck it in a brute can and started to cycle it. There was so much dead on it and the garage smelled so bad. Wife wasn’t having that. So I did a quick acid dip and rinse. Followed by 24hr bleach soak. Then I waited for the rock to dry and started to cure it again. Added some ammonia....and...WAIT!

With nothing to do I decided to start setting up all the equipment in the sump and play with the wire management setup. I picked up a second used Vectra M1 as a back up and decided to play with the plumbing to see if I can fit both in the return area. I have two extra MP10s so I’m using them in the sump to keep the bottom clean. I love that there will be no wires sticking out the top of the sump.

Figured since I had the parts the lights connect to I’d play with that al least. T5s are all set up, added one of the Kessil 360 brackets (other one is in use with the lights on my current tank) and figured out the AP700 mount. After a run to Home Depot tomorrow that will be mounted.

Wow....I missed this on Wednesday....glad I caught it now.
Great build so far! You're setting yourself up very nicely on that system.

Two points:
1. Wash your hands before you put them in your tank
2. Hamster wheels don't belong in the sump

I look forward to your progress!

Thanks, that’s what happens when you are working on the wife’s truck and new fish stuff shows up. You forget your hands are dirty! The hamster wheel is going to be hooked to a generator to power my system on power outages.

Light rack is done except for having to move my Kessil 360s from the old tank when I transfer tanks. I found the reflectors were bent today when I took them out of the box. I already contacted BRS about it. Not worried about it, they always have taken care of me. 14A95648-925C-496D-86BA-1D0E761A7B32.jpeg9CA56147-CE3E-4CA5-915E-3B17760CEC0C.jpeg418876E1-5388-40C1-83CC-7E07CBA66F72.jpegC56C9280-574F-494F-8044-FB4E529EA852.jpeg5402151C-B8CA-44FA-927E-93FF758DC476.jpeg
