I'm having a hard time getting the 1" Neptune Flow sensor to fit in my cabinet with the unions connected. I saw this picture online. Is this safe to do? Looks like this person has tubing over the bspp threads without the unions.

It would probably be fine to do it this way on a return line, but if it is in front of your return pump under pressure, I think it is a leak waiting to happen. Better way to do it would be to glue PVC barbed fittings to the ends of the sensor and then clamp your flexible tubing to the barbed fittings. Then there is something for the flexible tube to “grab” other than a smooth surface.

Thanks. I'm trying to attach a flow sensor to the output of my UV. Figured this was a hack. I don't want to risk a leak. I've been driving myself crazy trying to attach a flow sensor so that I can get accurate flow through it. I have dual returns going through a T. I'm leaning towards 2 pumps now. Only problem is figuring out gph based on my cor 20 rpm.

Well if you want to try one more thing before you cave for the separate pump, maybe this photo will help illustrate how I’ve joined flexible tubing to PVC on my system. Don’t mind my birds nest of cords… :grinning-face-with-sweat:

I haven’t looked at these pipes in years and actually if I did it again, I would have shoved them further onto the nipple… but they haven’t failed me in 6 years, so maybe I’ll leave them alone.

Well the issue is how to use the flow sensor without the included unions because the threads are bspp and not npt so I can't put a barb on it. It's ok. I have another cor 20 that was intended to be a spare. Only issue is going to be figuring out gph without the flow sensor.

Oh, I understand now. I guess you could set it up temporarily like that first picture you shared with a 5 gallon bucket outside and measure the flow once at least. It probably won’t leak right away.
