That doesn't sound like an accidental shooting to me...
it didn't to anyone else who lives here either. although they did call the DNR and turn themselves in right away. Probably after they went back to the camp for help and everyone saw what happened.

I hope they had to pay a fine. Hunters like that give honest hunters a bad name.

My husband is thinking about getting some meat rabbits to grow. We rabbit hunt but the population just isn't as good as it use to be. Too many coyotes killing off small game.
Rexes? Dutches? Silver Foxes?

In Arizona, they pay a fine, potentially lose their truck, rifle, and opportunity to hunt for 20 years.

Definitely chiming in on this one. For the soy and corn fields on the farm, it's a .257 weatherby mag and in the delta bottoms and hardwood forests, it's the .35 whelen. But an alt 6 is about all anyone ever needs too lol
used a 30-06 forever, but when I was growing up we could only hunt with slug guns in that part of the state, no rifles. So my first buck was with a 20ga single shot.

Wow you guys start early! I forget it's not 80° everywhere else in December like it is here lol
Our second archery deer and turkey season starts in August or September. Third starts middle of December. First starts January 1. Every other season/hunt is lottery draw.

That's even more impressive. We have to use them in some of the management areas, but everything else is pretty much wide open

Same in Idaho.
Everyone here has a gun it's open carry but they're super strict.
Gotta follow the rules.

Not sure he just started talking about it today. Probably whichever we can get near here.
Rexes are your best bet if you want pelts and meat. Otherwise go with a New Zealand or Californian. Cross breeding a Californian to a New Zealand produces some of the best hybrids for meat to bone ratio.

I hunt deer for meat but Turkey hunting is my favorite. Do you guys have the Gould's turkey out where you are?

Thank you! The more meat the better!

I rarely turkey hunt. I'll occasionally buy an archery tag if I'm archery deer hunting.
