Do you guys think the reason I got the brown jelly could be because I got the corals from a wholesaler that gets them from lots of places?
I think that the cause is usually some sort of trauma that allows a bacterial infection to take hold. I recently lost a few torch heads because I didn't act fast enough when the nearby hammer began sending out sweepers to sting the torch. One head went down and then started spreading to other heads.

The presumed cause of brown jelly, Arcobacter, I imagine is likely always around but becomes a problem when it can grow inside the Euphyllia tissue. Kind of like Staph aureus is everywhere but becomes a major problem when it gets into your blood stream.

Having some cipro in reserve is handy if you notice a head going downhill.

I have the KFC kit now so I will be prepared if it happens again. ;)
