“Speckled Leather”, any idea what species it is?

WWC sells a leather with this name and I can’t find anything about it online. I sent them an email asking if they knew and never got a reply. Any ideas? I’m trying to figure out its growth pattern.

I believe it’s a coral called Efflatournaria

I believe there is both an encrusting and a branching variety.

Here is the non branching variety in post 1, branching in post 2.

They are white base and brown or purplish polyps depending on what light you throw them under. I have a small frag of the branching I bought from Premier Reefs.

It is more likely to be one of the Cladiella species, for a full ID it would be better to see a mature colony of it.

It’s marketing. They are a business It’s what they do to charge more for a very common coral. If U were close I’d just give u some nepthea, the Palau kind.

late to the party, but that one grows fast, and only about 1" high. more of an encrusting thing. its much different than other leathers. the non-polyp part of the flesh is bleach white. when you touch it, it reacts quite fast.
