What are the best 1 inch reef safe schooling fish?

Title I had JUST cleaned my tank and who do I see, a little snail with a long neck. It was TINY so I couldn’t get a decent pic. I did loss track of him. does anyone know if I should get this guy out sooner rather then later?

So there is Tiny yellow tang that I want to get and I mean 1/2-3/4 inches. I really want him but don’t know how hardy he is and wanna make sure he’s healthy. Please send thoughts if he would be okay!
