I know this is going to be controversial…
I have a 13.5 Fluval and I’ve been running it at about 82 degrees. I’ve read that this can help cut down Dino’s growth. It seems to be helping. Any idea what long term effects of this increased temp may be? The corals seem fine but I could be doing...
I currently keep my tank between 78-79 (use a heater and a chiller to consistently keep that 1 degree difference). I just got scolymias and I heard various people say keep the tank between 77-78, but others say that 78-79 will be fine as long as it's consistent.
What is everyone's thoughts?
I don’t know what’s going on my tank is reaching 89 degrees and I have 4 fans the back is open I have a bubbler and a wave maker I don’t know why it’s a 75 gallon tank
Hi All,
Has anyone tried using a tankless water heater (Just like a chiller would work) for tank temp management with low set point?
Any thoughts please.
My grouper has been rubbing himself on the sand and he has been eating quite well also he has this mark I thought at first was just his coloring it’s not identical to the other side hes hard to tell I was thinking the temperature because I have a glass lid heat gets trapped so it gets hot like...
So I have just a general question. I haven’t been able to find anything out on this. I know about cycling, flow, light, no light, skimming, time and the stages etc… my question is: does temperature play any role or have any affect on the quality of the bacteria and the quality of the cycle...
I was researching coral shipping and temperatures and so on and came across this older thread: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/heat-pack-study.96954/
It seems to be the only one I've seen with data on temperatures over several hours in the cold simulating shipping. I would love to see any and...
Hello fellow reefers and freshwater aquarists!
After years of development and testing I finally made up my mind to introduce to you my AquariOS controller project, intending to use this thread as its long-term support platform.
It's about a 20-channel low-cost DIY aquarium controller, capable...
Hello! Marine lights are generally rather pricey. Anyone ever considered light therapy lights? They seem close to the right brightness and color temperature? Any opinions? TIA!
Just want to say this first, I am not an experienced reef keeper and am not looking to keep this fish, just looking for information because it is interesting to me.
I live in Australia and was reading about the Lennardi wrasse which apparently likes much cooler temperatures than most reef tanks...
I am new to the forum, and I need some advice.
I have a Fluval EVO 13.5, and it is FOWLR. It is cycled for about two weeks now, and I was thinking of starting a reef in October or early November.
Now here are some questions I have before I convert the EVO to a reef:
• I live in a rented...
What does everyone out there use to calibrate your temperature controller? This all started because I noticed my Hanna salinity checker is consistently 1 degree below what my controllers say. Here are my options:
The controller itself.
Cheap glass thermometer that came with a 20g tank: 72...
Yesterday evening I noticed my temperature dropping fairly steadily and it was looking like the heater died. I ran to PetCo, picked up a spare, and hooked it up to the Ink-Bird. It ran for about 6 hours, and then... Nothing. Back up heater down. Double checked my settings on the IB, and...
Hi everyone,
Currently have all my fish out in a QT. Dealing with everyone's favorite parasite.
So my question is, what does everyone think about the info from Humble Fish about a 6 week ich fallow period if tank temp is kept above 27C or approx 80.6F degrees?
Here are the links to what was...
ok so i dont know where to put this but my tank has been 82 degrees all day everything in the tank looks happy and is open but the thing is that i’ve had a fan running on it all day and my room is 75 degrees and it still has a fan running and with use of ice i’ve dropped the temp to 80 i even...
Greetings! I have a Waterbox 40 gallon AIO. I have only had it for 4 months, it is my first AIO tank, and I never had a tank with a sump. I am finding that the temperature in my display is almost a full degree lower than the temperature in the back chamber where my heater is. In fact, the...
I have a 30-gallon biocube. The hood has been removed and replaced with a custom acrylic panel that sits on top and a China Box light that is hung above it. There are two nano skimmers in the back section in compartments 1 and 2. There is a 20-watt analog heater in the third chamber with the...
Hello everyone,
I have been out of the hobby for a few years and just getting ready to get back in as we have bought a house and won't be moving each year. I have a 9-10 gallon rimless jbj tank that I would like to start cycling and get a couple basic pieces in it. Within the year I plan on...
pH: normally ~8.49 - 8.55, now its ~8.35 - 8.45
(apex, re-calibration confirmed accurate. As accurate as apex can be anyway. Rabble Rabble)
Alk: normally ~9.2 - 9.5, now its ~9.6 - 9.9
(alkatronic, re-calibration confirmed accurate. Also confirmed with Hanna & Red Sea)
Neither is a big...
A strange question....I have a good quantity of old 'used' rocks that are in a trash can cooking in the shade in my garden with just a pump circulating the water.
I live in a VERY hot climate and the water is at 36C / 97F (summer isn't even here yet :( ) . Will the cooking stall and the cycle...
After over engineering my tank stand the opening in the back proved to not be enough ventilation. The panels on my stand are 1 inch thick plywood designed the withstand years of abuse. This caused the temperature in my tank to climb and my pH to drop.
The panels are held on with industrial...
I started my tank in January but have not changed my house programmable thermostat settings - 72F during typical wake time and 70F during typical sleep time. Of course my tank fluctuates accordingly (with lag) from 80F to 78F. Two questions: What do you experienced aquarists do with your house...
I would start with water temperature.
Being a deep water fish, Anthias are used to live in cooler water environment.
Anthias enthusiasts, please chime in.
Apart from good water quality and feeding, does Anthias really care about water temperature?
If so, do you dial the heater down or...
