I am purchasing the Ruby Sump 30 by Trigger which comes with built in filter sock holders. I really want to install a ReefMat 500 in the drain/skimmer section. Any suggestions on how to remove the filter sock holders? Do you think the ReefMat would fit in the section without removing the holders?

I have a new tank with a supplied sump that I want to modify. The modification is to remove a glass partition that is siliconed into the sump.
What is the easiest and safest way to cut through the silicon and remove the partition.
